00:00:00.080 --> 00:00:03.460
Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is the one unforgivable sin.

00:00:05.320 --> 00:00:09.800
This is the LifeSpring One Year Bible Rewind, and coming to you from Riverside, California,

00:00:10.520 --> 00:00:17.260
podcasting since 2004, I'm Steve Webb, your OG Godcaster. This is the daily Read the Bible in

00:00:17.260 --> 00:00:22.720
a Year podcast, and I'm thrilled that you're here. Welcome. The website is lifespringmedia.com,

00:00:22.930 --> 00:00:29.980
and today is truly a day I can relate to. It's Peculiar People Day. It's really a day for

00:00:30.000 --> 00:00:35.140
one, don't you think? I mean, everyone is peculiar in one way or another. So here's to our day.

00:00:35.860 --> 00:00:41.160
And this is also Gospel Saturday. We'll read Mark 3 and 4. I'll share some thoughts about the

00:00:41.380 --> 00:00:46.240
chapters, and then we'll have an On This Date in Church History. And by the way, I want to commend

00:00:46.360 --> 00:00:50.840
you on your commitment to reading the Word with me every day. A lot of people start out on a Bible

00:00:51.040 --> 00:00:56.079
reading plan, but fail to complete it. And I know that listening to a daily podcast isn't always

00:00:56.100 --> 00:01:01.960
easy. But by being here, you're showing that you are serious about reading the entire Word of God.

00:01:02.230 --> 00:01:07.580
So I doff my hat to you, and I believe that God will bless your commitment. Hang in there. It'll

00:01:07.660 --> 00:01:12.820
be September before you know it. Let's begin. Our Father, we thank you so much for your Word,

00:01:13.000 --> 00:01:16.480
and we thank you, Lord, for calling us. I pray, God, that as we read today,

00:01:17.010 --> 00:01:21.040
you would touch our hearts, that you would soften our hearts, and that you would teach us.

00:01:21.550 --> 00:01:23.760
I pray this in Jesus' name. Amen.

00:01:26.420 --> 00:01:27.380
Mark chapter 3

00:01:28.600 --> 00:01:33.140
Now he entered the synagogue again, and a man was there who had a paralyzed hand.

00:01:34.000 --> 00:01:38.860
In order to accuse him, they were watching him closely to see whether he would heal him on the

00:01:39.020 --> 00:01:45.900
Sabbath. He told the man with a paralyzed hand, Stand before us. Then he said to them, Is it

00:01:46.060 --> 00:01:51.340
lawful on the Sabbath to do what is good, or to do what is evil, to save a life, or to kill?

00:01:52.160 --> 00:01:53.220
But they were silent.

00:01:54.580 --> 00:01:59.020
After looking around at them with anger and sorrow at the hardness of their hearts, he

00:01:59.180 --> 00:02:01.280
told the man, Stretch out your hand.

00:02:01.960 --> 00:02:04.380
So he stretched it out, and his hand was restored.

00:02:05.440 --> 00:02:09.920
Immediately the Pharisees went out and started plotting with the Herodians against him, how

00:02:09.979 --> 00:02:10.979
they might destroy him.

00:02:12.140 --> 00:02:18.020
Jesus departed with his disciples to the sea, and a large crowd followed from Galilee, Judea,

00:02:18.380 --> 00:02:24.780
Jerusalem, Idumea, beyond the Jordan, and around Tyre and Sidon. The large crowd came to him because

00:02:24.900 --> 00:02:30.600
they heard about everything he was doing. Then he told his disciples to have a small boat ready for

00:02:30.600 --> 00:02:35.980
him, so the crowd would not crush him. Since he had healed many, all who had diseases were pressing

00:02:36.200 --> 00:02:42.360
toward him to touch him. Whenever the unclean spirits saw him, those possessed fell down before

00:02:42.500 --> 00:02:47.940
him and cried out, You are the Son of God, and he would strongly warn them not to make him known.

00:02:48.920 --> 00:02:52.760
Then he went up the mountain and summoned those he wanted, and they came to him.

00:02:53.480 --> 00:02:54.920
He also appointed twelve.

00:02:55.440 --> 00:03:01.160
He also named them apostles, to be with him, to send them out to preach, and to have authority

00:03:01.240 --> 00:03:02.180
to drive out demons.

00:03:03.240 --> 00:03:04.260
He appointed the twelve.

00:03:05.360 --> 00:03:11.060
To Simon he gave the name Peter, and to James the son of Zebedee, and to his brother John

00:03:11.320 --> 00:03:17.560
he gave the name Boanerges, that is, sons of thunder, Andrew, Philip, and Bartholomew,

00:03:17.960 --> 00:03:24.720
Matthew and Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddeus, Simon the zealot, and Judas Iscariot,

00:03:24.960 --> 00:03:30.620
who also betrayed him. Then he went home, and the crowd gathered again so that they were not

00:03:30.740 --> 00:03:36.280
even able to eat. When his family heard this, they set out to restrain him, because they said,

00:03:36.520 --> 00:03:40.940
he's out of his mind. The scribes who had come down from Jerusalem said,

00:03:41.240 --> 00:03:45.640
he has Beelzebul in him, and he drives out demons by the ruler of the demons.

00:03:46.520 --> 00:03:48.740
So he summoned them and spoke to them in parables.

00:03:50.060 --> 00:03:51.920
How can Satan drive out Satan?

00:03:52.900 --> 00:03:56.700
If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.

00:03:57.440 --> 00:04:01.040
If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand.

00:04:01.860 --> 00:04:07.060
And if Satan rebels against himself and is divided, he cannot stand but is finished.

00:04:07.940 --> 00:04:12.120
On the other hand, no one can enter a strong man's house and rob his possessions

00:04:12.770 --> 00:04:14.740
unless he first ties up the strong man.

00:04:15.320 --> 00:04:16.579
Then he will rob his house.

00:04:17.480 --> 00:04:23.120
I assure you, people will be forgiven for all sins and whatever blasphemies they may blaspheme.

00:04:23.840 --> 00:04:29.340
But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an

00:04:29.520 --> 00:04:33.840
eternal sin, because they were saying, He has an unclean spirit.

00:04:35.500 --> 00:04:40.360
Then his mother and his brothers came, and standing outside, they sent word to him and

00:04:40.500 --> 00:04:40.820
called him.

00:04:41.960 --> 00:04:46.420
A crowd was sitting around him and told him, Look, your mother, your brothers, and your

00:04:46.580 --> 00:04:48.820
sisters are outside asking for you.

00:04:49.620 --> 00:04:52.640
He replied to them, Who are my mother and my brothers?

00:04:53.380 --> 00:04:57.660
And looking about at those who were sitting in a circle around him, he said, Here are

00:04:57.680 --> 00:04:58.740
my mother and my brothers.

00:04:59.440 --> 00:05:03.100
Whoever does the will of God is my brother and sister and mother.

00:05:03.780 --> 00:05:04.720
Mark chapter 4.

00:05:06.160 --> 00:05:08.380
Again, Jesus began to teach by the lake.

00:05:08.960 --> 00:05:14.320
The crowd that gathered around him was so large that he got into a boat and sat in it out on the lake,

00:05:14.780 --> 00:05:17.500
while all the people were along the shore at the water's edge.

00:05:18.120 --> 00:05:21.920
He taught them many things by parables, and in his teaching said,

00:05:22.600 --> 00:05:24.880
Listen, a farmer went out to sow his seed.

00:05:25.620 --> 00:05:30.880
As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up.

00:05:31.820 --> 00:05:35.340
Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil.

00:05:35.960 --> 00:05:38.400
It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow.

00:05:39.420 --> 00:05:44.120
But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root.

00:05:45.060 --> 00:05:50.460
Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants, so that they did not bear grain.

00:05:51.540 --> 00:05:56.240
Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up, grew, and produced a crop,

00:05:56.860 --> 00:06:00.920
some multiplying thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times.

00:06:02.040 --> 00:06:05.460
Then Jesus said, Whoever has ears to hear, let him hear.

00:06:06.540 --> 00:06:11.040
When he was alone, the twelve and the others around him asked him about the parables.

00:06:11.710 --> 00:06:16.860
He told them, The secret of the kingdom of God has been given to you, but to those on

00:06:16.860 --> 00:06:22.840
the outside everything is said in parables, so that they may be ever seeing but never perceiving,

00:06:23.520 --> 00:06:28.360
and ever hearing but never understanding, otherwise they might turn and be forgiven.

00:06:29.780 --> 00:06:32.920
Then Jesus said to them, Don't you understand this parable?

00:06:33.460 --> 00:06:35.560
How then will you understand any parable?

00:06:36.100 --> 00:06:41.880
The farmer sows the word. Some people are like seed along the path, where the word is sown.

00:06:42.740 --> 00:06:46.860
As soon as they hear it, Satan comes and takes away the word that was sown in them.

00:06:47.900 --> 00:06:53.300
Others, like seed sown on rocky places, hear the word and at once receive it with joy.

00:06:53.780 --> 00:06:59.280
But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes

00:06:59.400 --> 00:07:05.080
because of the word, they quickly fall away. Still others, like seed sown among thorns,

00:07:05.620 --> 00:07:11.220
hear the word, but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth, and the desires for other

00:07:11.440 --> 00:07:17.620
things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful. Others, like seeds sown on good soil,

00:07:18.030 --> 00:07:24.980
hear the word, accept it, and produce a crop, some thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times what was

00:07:25.120 --> 00:07:32.219
sown. He said to them, Do you bring in a lamp to put it under a bowl or a bed? Instead, don't you

00:07:32.240 --> 00:07:38.400
put it on its stand? For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed

00:07:38.900 --> 00:07:44.140
is meant to be brought out into the open. If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear.

00:07:45.620 --> 00:07:51.200
Consider carefully what you hear, he continued. With the measure you use, it will be measured to

00:07:51.360 --> 00:07:58.739
you, and even more. Whoever has will be given more. Whoever does not have, even what they have

00:07:58.780 --> 00:08:06.080
will be taken from them. He also said, This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters

00:08:06.240 --> 00:08:11.840
seed on the ground. Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows,

00:08:12.340 --> 00:08:18.660
though he does not know how. All by itself the soil produces grain. First the stalk,

00:08:19.300 --> 00:08:24.480
then the head, then the full kernel in the head. As soon as the grain is ripe,

00:08:24.660 --> 00:08:27.560
he puts the sickle to it, because the harvest has come.

00:08:29.010 --> 00:08:34.479
Again he said, What shall we say the kingdom of God is like, or what parable shall we use

00:08:34.479 --> 00:08:40.280
to describe it? It is like a mustard seed, which is the smallest of all seeds on earth.

00:08:40.890 --> 00:08:45.980
Yet when planted, it grows and becomes the largest of all garden plants, with such big

00:08:46.200 --> 00:08:51.899
branches that the birds can perch in its shade. With many similar parables, Jesus spoke the

00:08:51.920 --> 00:08:57.160
word to them as much as they could understand. He did not say anything to them without using a

00:08:57.400 --> 00:09:01.260
parable, but when he was alone with his own disciples, he explained everything.

00:09:03.180 --> 00:09:07.780
That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, Let's go over to the other side.

00:09:08.800 --> 00:09:14.460
Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other

00:09:14.640 --> 00:09:20.239
boats with him. A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat so that it was nearly

00:09:20.260 --> 00:09:26.780
swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him,

00:09:27.240 --> 00:09:32.780
Teacher, don't you care if we drown? He got up, rebuked the wind, and said to the waves,

00:09:33.350 --> 00:09:40.300
Quiet, be still. Then the wind died down, and it was completely calm. And he said to his disciples,

00:09:40.880 --> 00:09:46.440
Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith? They were terrified and asked each other,

00:09:47.000 --> 00:09:50.640
Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him.

00:09:52.640 --> 00:09:55.220
Today I've got comments on both chapters 3 and 4.

00:09:56.180 --> 00:09:58.740
Mark chapter 3, 28 and 29 says,

00:09:59.260 --> 00:10:04.580
I assure you, people will be forgiven for all sins and whatever blasphemies they may blaspheme.

00:10:05.060 --> 00:10:11.000
But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin.

00:10:12.100 --> 00:10:14.560
Well, beloved, this passage receives a lot of attention.

00:10:15.300 --> 00:10:21.560
blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is the one unforgivable sin. So what is it? People worry about that.

00:10:22.460 --> 00:10:27.200
Let's talk about it. To answer the question, let's first put these three verses into context.

00:10:27.920 --> 00:10:34.100
The scribes had just said of Jesus, He has Beelzebul in him, and He drives out demons by the

00:10:34.270 --> 00:10:39.860
ruler of the demons. So, here Jesus has been performing miracles, healing people, casting

00:10:40.120 --> 00:10:45.260
demons out of people, and forgiving people. And the scribes said that He did that by the power of

00:10:45.280 --> 00:10:52.300
Satan. Jesus' answer to their accusation was, of course, perfect. He said, How can Satan drive out

00:10:52.460 --> 00:10:58.320
Satan? If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. If a house is divided

00:10:58.540 --> 00:11:03.860
against itself, that house cannot stand. And if Satan rebels against himself and is divided,

00:11:04.400 --> 00:11:10.340
he cannot stand but is finished. So in saying this, Jesus was pointing out to them that Satan

00:11:10.360 --> 00:11:16.180
would never work against himself. And then next he gave them an illustration or parable. He said,

00:11:16.820 --> 00:11:22.160
On the other hand, no one can enter a strong man's house and rob his possessions unless he first

00:11:22.440 --> 00:11:28.260
ties up the strong man. Then he will rob his house. In this parable, Satan is the strong man

00:11:28.460 --> 00:11:34.540
guarding what belongs to him. Jesus was saying, I am not in league with Satan. I am demonstrating

00:11:34.620 --> 00:11:40.320
that I am stronger than he is. So by casting demons out of people, Jesus was taking from Satan

00:11:40.340 --> 00:11:47.360
belonged to him one life or one soul at a time. As one commentator said, there is nothing in our

00:11:47.540 --> 00:11:54.200
life that must stay under Satan's domination. So Jesus binds the strong man and plunders his house.

00:11:54.920 --> 00:11:59.360
Now let's get back to answering the question at hand, what is blaspheming the Holy Spirit?

00:12:00.420 --> 00:12:05.780
Well, let's look at what the Holy Spirit's ministry is. Jesus tells us in John 15, 26,

00:12:06.700 --> 00:12:14.900
When the Counselor comes, the one I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, he will testify about me.

00:12:15.840 --> 00:12:17.380
The Counselor is the Holy Spirit.

00:12:18.120 --> 00:12:18.880
How do we know that?

00:12:19.120 --> 00:12:21.580
Well, in John 14.26, Jesus said,

00:12:21.990 --> 00:12:29.860
But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, the Father will send him in my name, will teach you all things and remind you of everything I have told you.

00:12:30.660 --> 00:12:34.340
So, the Holy Spirit is who tells us the truth about Jesus.

00:12:34.920 --> 00:12:39.660
He lives on us and he testifies to our heart that Jesus is who he says he is.

00:12:40.380 --> 00:12:45.920
Well, by blaspheming the Holy Spirit, a person is in the sorrowful state of rejecting Jesus.

00:12:46.880 --> 00:12:52.320
If a person continually rejects Jesus, they are rejecting the forgiveness that is only available

00:12:52.680 --> 00:12:57.920
through Jesus. It's not that blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is too big a sin to be forgiven.

00:12:58.360 --> 00:13:02.700
It's that this person has cut off the only way that he or she can be forgiven.

00:13:03.240 --> 00:13:05.740
Commentator H.A. Ironside put it this way,

00:13:06.620 --> 00:13:12.260
These words were never intended to torment anxious souls honestly desiring to know Christ,

00:13:12.690 --> 00:13:18.020
but they stand out as a blazing beacon warning of the danger of persisting in the rejection

00:13:18.580 --> 00:13:25.160
of the Spirit's testimony of Christ until the seared conscience no longer responds to the gospel

00:13:25.500 --> 00:13:31.600
message. Beloved, this is a sin that puts terror into my heart when I hear someone reject Jesus.

00:13:32.340 --> 00:13:38.160
What gives me hope is that until that person draws their last breath, there is hope that

00:13:38.340 --> 00:13:42.980
their eyes will be opened, and that hope spurs me on to redouble my prayers for them.

00:13:43.700 --> 00:13:48.360
I don't know when God gives up on trying to woo someone to Himself, so I pray for that

00:13:48.540 --> 00:13:53.040
lost soul until their heart is softened or until I draw my last breath.

00:13:54.060 --> 00:13:56.000
And now let's talk a little bit about chapter 4.

00:13:56.940 --> 00:14:00.420
Jesus and the disciples were on the lake, and Jesus went below to take a nap.

00:14:00.860 --> 00:14:06.820
And then the storm came up, and the disciples came to wake Jesus because they were afraid of the storm at sea.

00:14:07.420 --> 00:14:08.720
They were afraid for their lives.

00:14:09.060 --> 00:14:09.820
They were panicked.

00:14:10.380 --> 00:14:12.440
So when they went to wake him up, what happened?

00:14:13.120 --> 00:14:16.080
Jesus got up, rebuked the wind, and said to the sea,

00:14:16.760 --> 00:14:18.000
Silence, be still.

00:14:18.560 --> 00:14:21.200
And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

00:14:21.880 --> 00:14:22.740
And then he said to them,

00:14:23.460 --> 00:14:26.200
Why are you so fearful? Do you still have no faith?

00:14:27.000 --> 00:14:28.800
And then what does the scripture say next?

00:14:29.400 --> 00:14:31.440
It says, and they were terrified.

00:14:32.660 --> 00:14:37.140
Do you remember a few days ago I talked about how we take God the Father too lightly because

00:14:37.340 --> 00:14:40.300
of the grace we receive from Jesus' shed blood?

00:14:41.240 --> 00:14:45.760
Well, here we have the disciples who have spent a great deal of time with Jesus, and

00:14:46.120 --> 00:14:48.700
one would assume they knew him fairly well by now.

00:14:49.280 --> 00:14:51.360
And they were terrified.

00:14:52.520 --> 00:14:53.720
It doesn't say they were afraid.

00:14:54.140 --> 00:14:55.400
It doesn't say they were panicked.

00:14:55.840 --> 00:14:59.060
They were terrified when Jesus calmed the storm.

00:14:59.820 --> 00:15:04.480
I don't know about you, but I usually think of the disciples at this point in their education

00:15:04.620 --> 00:15:10.820
from Jesus as just not having as good an understanding of who Jesus is as I do.

00:15:11.420 --> 00:15:14.480
I know that sounds presumptive, and I'm sure it is, but hear me out.

00:15:15.180 --> 00:15:19.460
I had a conversation with a fellow Christian once, and in our conversation he brought up

00:15:19.620 --> 00:15:20.180
this parable.

00:15:21.040 --> 00:15:26.080
And in our discussion he pointed out that at first the disciples were terrified of the

00:15:26.280 --> 00:15:26.460
storm.

00:15:26.980 --> 00:15:32.120
But when Jesus calmed the storm with just his word, they were terrified of him.

00:15:33.500 --> 00:15:34.580
And that got me to thinking.

00:15:35.400 --> 00:15:39.440
I usually think of Jesus as being generally soft-spoken and easygoing.

00:15:39.900 --> 00:15:43.500
Strong, yes, but not someone with an intimidating demeanor.

00:15:44.080 --> 00:15:46.060
Certainly not someone to engender terror.

00:15:46.560 --> 00:15:47.840
But maybe I have it wrong.

00:15:48.070 --> 00:15:49.460
I must have it wrong, don't you think?

00:15:49.560 --> 00:15:52.760
I mean, if the disciples who lived with him were terrified,

00:15:53.520 --> 00:15:55.880
maybe there is something about Jesus that I've overlooked.

00:15:56.800 --> 00:15:59.080
And, of course, there is.

00:15:59.860 --> 00:16:01.340
Jesus is not just a man.

00:16:01.860 --> 00:16:02.680
Jesus is God.

00:16:03.280 --> 00:16:05.980
He's fully human and fully God.

00:16:06.420 --> 00:16:11.840
And since that's true, Jesus has every bit of power that God the Father has

00:16:12.260 --> 00:16:16.160
and is just as offended by my sin as the Father is.

00:16:16.740 --> 00:16:17.900
And talk about power.

00:16:18.660 --> 00:16:22.720
Colossians 1.17 says that Jesus holds all creation together.

00:16:23.760 --> 00:16:24.680
All creation.

00:16:25.420 --> 00:16:26.040
Think of that.

00:16:26.800 --> 00:16:33.660
Without the power of Jesus, all of creation, you, me, the earth, the sun, the moon, the stars,

00:16:34.000 --> 00:16:41.560
all creation, would come apart. The only reason I'm here is because He allows it. And if I'm honest

00:16:41.700 --> 00:16:47.080
with myself, I should be just a little bit terrified of Him as well. It is only because

00:16:47.340 --> 00:16:54.159
of His unfathomable love that the terror I should feel is balanced with the peace that passes all

00:16:54.200 --> 00:17:00.360
understanding that He gives to me. He has promised that because I have placed my faith in Him,

00:17:00.830 --> 00:17:07.780
I have been adopted into His family, and I am secure and safe today, tomorrow, and all the

00:17:07.860 --> 00:17:14.520
tomorrows to follow. I can rest in that, and I do, but I also have a new appreciation for the

00:17:14.760 --> 00:17:18.480
unmeasurable, infinite, and awesome power of my Savior.

00:17:19.439 --> 00:17:21.720
Here's the verse of the day.

00:17:24.839 --> 00:17:27.540
Today's verse of the day is Mark 3.5.

00:17:28.680 --> 00:17:32.760
After looking around at them with anger and sorrow at the hardness of their hearts,

00:17:33.160 --> 00:17:35.260
he told the man, stretch out your hand.

00:17:35.700 --> 00:17:38.560
So he stretched it out, and his hand was restored.

00:17:39.320 --> 00:17:40.140
Mark 3.5.

00:17:44.800 --> 00:17:49.680
Beloved, there are no ads here, no paywalls, and no algorithms to try to game.

00:17:49.950 --> 00:17:53.260
The LifeSpring One-Year Bible Rewind exists because of you.

00:17:53.570 --> 00:17:57.300
The LifeSpring family believes Scripture matters and faithfulness matters.

00:17:57.980 --> 00:18:02.180
Value for value, your time, your talent, or your treasure is how this continues.

00:18:03.000 --> 00:18:08.540
If this show has strengthened your walk with God or helped you stay in the Word or brought peace to your heart,

00:18:08.760 --> 00:18:11.420
you're invited to respond in whatever way works for you.

00:18:11.880 --> 00:18:14.380
You'll find simple ways to do that right here.

00:18:23.920 --> 00:18:30.680
On this date in church history, January 10th in AD 49, and most scholars believe it actually

00:18:31.060 --> 00:18:36.960
was on this date, the Apostle Paul arrived in the city of Corinth. It was a bustling,

00:18:37.320 --> 00:18:42.360
wealthy port city, and it was full of competing gods, temples, philosophies, and loyalties.

00:18:43.100 --> 00:18:50.040
Greek gods, Roman civic religion, mystery cults, emperor worship, all operating side by side.

00:18:50.290 --> 00:18:54.080
So the gospel entered a place where many voices already claimed truth.

00:18:54.630 --> 00:19:00.480
Paul stayed there for about a year and a half, working as a tent maker while preaching the gospel and planning a church.

00:19:01.240 --> 00:19:06.200
The community that formed became one of the most challenging congregations Paul ever pastored.

00:19:06.700 --> 00:19:12.900
There was division, immorality, spiritual pride, and questions about how to live a faithful Christian life.

00:19:13.140 --> 00:19:17.560
Yet Corinth became the setting for some of Paul's most personal and practical teaching.

00:19:18.520 --> 00:19:22.600
His letters to the Corinthians show a pastor committed not to perfect churches,

00:19:23.220 --> 00:19:26.460
but to faithful people who were learning how to follow Jesus.

00:19:30.680 --> 00:19:34.240
We'll have a time of praises and prayer requests on tomorrow's show,

00:19:34.310 --> 00:19:37.020
so if you have a praise report or a prayer request,

00:19:37.370 --> 00:19:42.800
go to prayer.lifespringmedia.com or email me at steve at lifespringmedia.com.

00:19:42.940 --> 00:19:45.920
Or you can send a text or email right here.

00:19:53.400 --> 00:19:55.720
When you send in your prayer requests or praises,

00:19:56.120 --> 00:19:57.840
I'll pray for you in my daily prayer time,

00:19:58.120 --> 00:20:00.860
and I'll pray for you on the show so that we can all agree together

00:20:01.260 --> 00:20:03.080
as we take our requests to God.

00:20:03.200 --> 00:20:05.880
If you enjoy the show, tell someone.

00:20:15.200 --> 00:20:20.280
Beloved, the Jesus we read about today is stronger than Satan and greater than the storm.

00:20:20.900 --> 00:20:27.120
May we never become casual about who he is, and may our awe of him bring us into deeper faith,

00:20:27.560 --> 00:20:32.480
not fear. May we never reject his voice, and may we walk today in faith,

00:20:32.900 --> 00:20:35.380
shaped by awe and secured by his love.

00:20:36.190 --> 00:20:38.200
Until tomorrow, may God bless you richly.

00:20:38.660 --> 00:20:39.880
Thank you so much for being here.

00:20:40.320 --> 00:20:41.920
I'm Steve Webb. Bye.
