This is the daily show where we're reading through the entire Bible in a year. Today are reading a second Timothy three through four and after the reading I'll have some comments for you. Second Timothy chapter three. But realize this that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revisers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self control, brutal haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power. AVOID SUCH MEN AS THESE four among them are those who enter into households and captivate weak women weighed down with sins lead on by various impulses, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. Just as Janus and Jambres opposed Moses. So these men also oppose the truth, man of depraved mind, rejected in regard to the faith, but they will not make further progress for their folly will be obvious to all jest is Janice and Jabra is folly was also. Now you followed my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, love, perseverance, persecutions and sufferings, such as happened to me at Antioch at Iconium and Atlas DRA what persecutions I endured and out of them all, the Lord rescued me. Indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, but evil men and imposters will proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. You however, continue on the things you have learned and become convinced of knowing from whom you have learned them. And that from childhood, you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training and righteousness, so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.

Second Timothy chapter four. I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His Kingdom, preach the Word, be ready in season and out of season, reprove, rebuke, exhort with great patience and instruction, for the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths. But you be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry, for I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come, I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course I have kept the faith in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness which the Lord the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing. In the beginning of chapter three, Paul said that in the last days, things would be difficult because of how evil people will be and he listed some of the characteristics that they'd have. Here's the list again. lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revisers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self control, brutal haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power. You know, beloved, one thing social media has done is allowed pretty much anybody with a computer or a smartphone to put their life on display for all to see. And back in the early days of social media, it used to surprise me what some people chose to post. It doesn't surprise me anymore, of course. But you know, we've all seen every one of those characteristics that Paul listed shown on social media. Let me quickly say that there are some wonderful people there as well who display the opposite traits. But I've got to admit that I really had no idea how many of the other kind there were in the world. And then the final four verses of chapter three really do encapsulate the reason I produced the Lifespring, family, Audio Bible. Here are those verses again, you however, continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of knowing from whom you've learned them. By continuing to be a student of Scripture, and most believers, I think, agree with that, but they have a hard time doing it. Me included. On this date in church history may 8 1655 Edward Winslow passed away he was an English born Puritan separatist Mayflower pilgrim. He was a signer of the Mayflower Compact, and he later became governor of Plymouth colony. And on this date in church history, May 8 1816. In the Dutch Reformed Church in New York City, delegates from 35 Bible Societies met to establish the American Bible Society and the American Bible Society seeks to promote a wider circulation of the scriptures, and accompanied by notes or comments. So maybe they wouldn't like this show since I always comment on the scriptures. Happy birthday to the American Bible Society.

Prayer requests. Well, to the mothers out there listening again, Happy Mother's Day to you. The lovely lady Leanne will be flying home from Florida tonight. So for the first time in our marriage, I haven't been able to see her on Mother's Day. I'll be picking her up at about midnight. So Mother's Day will have completely passed next time I see her. But I hope you had a great Mother's Day. But let's pray that Leanne has a safe, uneventful flight. Let's pray. Our heavenly Father, you are holy and you're merciful. You are the one true and only God, there is no other. Thank you for loving us, Lord, and because of your love, you've made it possible for us to have a relationship with you. And we praise you for that. And we thank you for your word and for equipping us to do the work you've called us to do. Thank you, Lord, for all the mothers that are out there. And I pray God that you bless them today in a very, very special way. And I ask Lord that you bring Leanne home safely tonight? May she have an easy flight and make her connections with no trouble?
