Steve Webb 0:00 We're on the right track. Steve Webb 0:02 This is the Lifespring! One Year Bible coming to you from Riverside, California and podcasting since 2004. I am your OG Godcaster. Steve Webb. It's gospel Saturday and Our reading today will be chapters 13 and 14 of the book of Acts. The website is Lifespringmedia.com. and contact information will be at the end of the show. Yesterday I told you about the Oh, so fun day, we had our first day of vacation on the way to Vancouver to board our ship to Alaska. At the end of today's show, I'll give you some of the highlights of the cruise and some of our excursions at the various ports of call. and I'll share an email I got today from an experienced cruiser. Here's a hint, I wish I had this email before we began our trip. But before we read, let's pray our loving Heavenly Father, you are so good to provide this time for us to gather around your word and we thank you so much for that. We pray that You would bless this time and that you would teach us today. I pray this in Jesus name. Amen. Okay, you ready? Let's get started. Steve Webb 1:06 Acts chapter 13. Now in the church at Antioch there were prophets and teachers Barnabas Simeon called neiger Lucia SIFS Ireenie Mannion, who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul, while they were worshipping the Lord in fasting, the Holy Spirit said, set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I've called them. So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off. The two of them sent on their way by the Holy Spirit, went down to solutia and sailed from there to Cyprus. When they arrived at Solomos, they proclaimed the Word of God and the Jewish synagogues. John was with them as their helper. They traveled through the whole island until they came to Papyrus. There they met a Jewish sorcerer and false prophet named Bart Jesus, who was an attended of the Proconsul. Sergius Paulus, the proconsul, an intelligent man sent for Barnabas and Saul because he wanted to hear the Word of God. But elements the sorcerer for that is what his name means oppose them and tried to turn to Proconsul from the faith. Then Saul, who was also called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked straight at elements and said, You are a child of the devil and an enemy of everything that is right. You are full of all kinds of deceit and trickery. Will you never stop perverting the right ways of the Lord? Now the hand of the Lord is against you. You're going to be blind for a time, not even able to see the light of the sun. Immediately, mist and darkness came over him, and he groped about seeking someone to lead him by the hand. When the Proconsul saw what had happened, he believed for he was amazed at the teaching about the Lord. From Papyrus, Paul and his companions sail to Perga in pen Philea, where John left them to return to Jerusalem. From Perga. They went on to Pisidian Antioch. On the Sabbath, they entered the synagogue and sat down. After the reading from the law and the prophets, the leaders of the synagogue sent word to them saying, brothers, if you have a word of exhortation for the people, please speak. Standing up, Paul motioned with his hand and said, fellow Israelites and you Gentiles who worship God, listen to me. The God of the people of Israel chose our ancestors, he made the people prosper during their stay in Egypt. With mighty power, he led them out of that country. for about 40 years he endured their conduct in the wilderness, and he overthrew seven nations in Canaan, giving their land to this people as their inheritance. All this took about 450 years after this, God gave them judges until the time of Samuel the prophet. Then the people asked for a king, and he gave them saw son of Kish of the tribe of Benjamin who ruled 40 years. After removing Saul, he made David their king. God testified concerning him. I have found David's son of Jesse, a man after my own heart, he will do everything I want him to do. From this man's descendants God has brought to Israel the Savior Jesus as He promised, before the coming of Jesus, John preached repentance and baptism to all the people of Israel. As John was completing his work, he said, Who do you suppose I am? I'm not the one you're looking for. But there is one coming after me who sandals I am not worthy to untie. fellow children of Abraham and you God fearing Gentiles. It is to us that this message of salvation has been sent. The people of Jerusalem and their rulers did not recognize Jesus. Yet in condemning him they fulfilled the words of the prophets that are read every Sabbath. Though they found no proper ground for a death sentence. They asked Pilate to have Him executed. When they had carried out all that was written about him. They took him down from the cross and laid him in a tomb, but God raised Him up from the dead. Did and for many days, he was seen by those who had traveled with him from Galilee to Jerusalem. They are now his witnesses to our people. We tell you the good news, what God promised our ancestors he has fulfilled for us their children by raising up Jesus. As it is written in the second Psalm, You are my son, today I have become your father. God raised Him from the dead so that he will never be subjected to decay. As God has said, I will give you the Holy ensure blessings promised to David. So it is also stated elsewhere, you will not let your Holy One see decay. Now, when David had served God's purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep. He was buried with his ancestors and his body decayed, but the one whom God raised from the dead did not see decay. Therefore, my friends, I want you to know that through Jesus, the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. Through him, every one who believes is set free from every sin, a justification you were not able to obtain under the Law of Moses. Take care that what the prophets have said does not happen to you. Look, you scoffers wonder and perish, for I am going to do something in your days that you would never believe even if someone told you. As Paul and Barnabas were leaving the synagogue, the people invited them to speak further about these things on the next Sabbath. When the congregation was dismissed, many of the Jews and devout converts to Judaism followed Paul and Barnabas, who talked with them and urged them to continue in the grace of God. On the next Sabbath, almost the whole city gathered to hear the word of the Lord. When the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy. They began to contradict what Paul was saying, and heaped abuse on him. Then Paul and Barnabas answered them boldly, we had to speak the Word of God to you first, since you reject it, and do not consider yourselves worthy of eternal life. We now turn to the Gentiles. For this is what the Lord has commanded us. I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth. When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and honored the word of the Lord, and all who were appointed for eternal life believed the word of the Lord spread through the whole region. But the Jewish leaders incited the God fearing women of high standing and the leading men of the city. They stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them from their region. So they shook the dust off their feet as a warning to them. In winter I conium and the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit. Steve Webb 7:40 Acts chapter 14. The same thing happened in I conium, Paul and Barnabas went to the Jewish synagogue and preached with such power that a great number of both Jews and Greeks became believers. Some of the Jews, however, spurned God's message and poisoned the minds of the Gentiles against Paul and Barnabas. But the Apostle stayed there a long time preaching boldly about the grace of the Lord. and the Lord proved their message was true by giving them power to do miraculous signs and wonders. But the people of the town were divided in their opinion about them, some sided with the Jews, and some with the apostles. Then a mob of Gentiles and Jews, along with their leaders decided to attack and stone them. When the apostles learned of it, they fled to the region of Lika onea to the towns of Leicester and Derby in the surrounding area. and there they preached the good news. While they were at Leicester, Paul and Barnabas came upon a man with crippled feet. He had been that way from birth, so he had never walked. He was sitting and listening as Paul preached. looking straight at him, Paul realized he had faith to be healed. So Paul called to him in a loud voice stand up, and the man jumped to his feet and started walking. When the crowds saw what Paul had done, they shouted in their local dialect. These men are gods in human form. They decided that Barnabas was the Greek gods Zeus, in that Paul was Hermes since he was the chief speaker. Now the Temple of Zeus was located just outside the town. So the priest of the temple and the crowd brought bulls and reeds of flowers to the town gates, and they prepared to offer sacrifices to the apostles. But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard what was happening, they tore their clothing in dismay, and ran out among the people shouting, friends, why are you doing this? We're merely human beings just like you. We have come to bring you the good news that you should turn from these worthless things and turn to the living God who made heaven and earth, the sea and everything in them. In the past, he permitted all the nations to go their own ways, but he never left them without evidence of himself and his goodness. For instance, he sends you rain in good crops and gives you food and joyful hearts. But even with these words, Paul and Barnabas could scarcely restrain the people from sacrificing to them. Then some Jews arrived from Antioch Can I conium and one the crowds to their side, they stoned Paul and dragged him out of town thinking he was dead. But as the believers gathered around him, he got up and went back into the town. The next day he left with Barnabas for derby. After preaching the good news in Derby, and making many disciples, Paul and Barnabas returned to Illustra, I conium and Antioch of Pisidia, where they strengthen the believers, they encouraged them to continue in the faith, reminding them that we must suffer many hardships to enter the kingdom of God. Paul and Barnabas also appointed elders in every church. with prayer and fasting, they turned the elders over to the care of the Lord in whom they had put their trust. Then they traveled back through the city at depend Filia. They preach the Word and Perga then went down to add Elia. Finally, they returned by ship to Antioch of Syria where their journey had begun. The believers there had entrusted them to the grace of God to do the work they had now completed. Upon arriving in Antioch, they called the church together and reported everything God had done through them, and how he had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles to and they stayed there with the believers for a long time. Steve Webb 11:11 Well, beloved, we see the beginning of Paul's first missionary journey in chapter 13. and it's important to note that Paul and Barnabas didn't begin this journey based on their own ideas. They were called by the Holy Spirit to this work. and then the church at Antioch fasted, prayed, laid hands on them, and sent them on their way, everything was done according to the leading of the Lord. and yet, they didn't have success in every place, far from it, in fact, but notice what they did in verse 51, after they were run out of Antioch of Pisidia, Scripture says, so they shook the dust from their feet as a sign of rejection, and went to the town of conium. In shaking the dust off their feet, they were saying that they didn't want to take anything of that city with him. and they didn't take the rejection personally. and they didn't doubt God's call on them. They just moved along to the next town. and, beloved, too often, when we feel called to do something for the Lord, we begin with Stars In Our Eyes. We think that if God has called us, then we'll have nothing but success. and when resistance comes or when we experience what we interpret his failure, we withdraw from the work thinking that we must have misinterpreted God's call, because if he was in it, we would have success. Well, sometimes yes, that's true. We do misinterpret the call. Oftentimes, we just get excited about something. and we think that that enthusiasm is from God. But actually, it's just our own emotions. That discussion is for another day. The takeaway here, beloved, is that even when we are doing God's will, or perhaps I should say, especially when we're doing God's will, we should expect resistance, because the enemy doesn't want the cause of Christ to advance. We are in a spiritual battle when we're laboring for the Lord. But the thing to keep in mind is, we are not in the battle alone. If God has called us, He is with us. and if he's with us, if he's on our side, if he's forests, who can be against us? In other words, it doesn't matter if we have opposition because God's purposes will always prevail. Sure, there may be skirmishes, but those are the times when we should rejoice. Because it is then that we have confirmation that we're on the right track. What are your thoughts? have you faced opposition when doing God's work? Tell me about it. Would you send me Boostagram or other contact information will be at the end of the show? You know, it occurs to me that we were facing attacks from the enemy on our first day of vacation. The lovely lady Liana and I badly needed the time away, and we were both exhausted. It had been a very long time since we've had time away from her responsibilities. and Scripture tells us that rest is an important part of life to be spiritually healthy. Well, the enemy tried to steal that away from us, didn't he? But he that is within us is greater than he that is in the world. Amen. Amen. Tomorrow will be Epistles Sunday, and we'll read first Peter four and five, which will complete that book, Steve Webb 14:17 anonymous and in their weekly donation of $33.33. Today, thank you, anonymous. God bless you. That of course makes him Our executive producer today and our associate producer is Michael Haner, who came in with his weekly donation of $7.77 a striper donation. Thank you, Michael. God bless you. and a row a duck's Boostagram 2222 SATs came in from fountain user riser card AR YSZ AR D and again I hope I hope I'm saying that right. They sent it in on the Ecclesiastes five and 620 22 Redux, the episode where I told you that I was too sick to do a show just after we returned from our vacation. Anyway, they said hope you're feeling better soon. God bless and there's a prayer emoji. Well thank you Rhys art. We are slowly recovering his I cough. I still have a bit of congestion in my head. Maybe you can still hear it. and as you heard, I do still have a bit of a cough Leann has a day behind me so her cough is still pretty bad and she too still sounds like she has a cold. The headaches are not as bad but we're definitely on the mend. Lord willing we'll both be at 100% Soon 100%. My energy level is already nearly there. and both of us very much appreciate your prayers. Thank you so much. Jingle 15:38 Lifespringmedia.com/support Steve Webb 15:44 All right, Alaska report part two. Before I get to the report, here's an email I got from James Garner. Yes, that James Garner, the one who joined the Lifespring family this year after hearing about the show on the no agenda podcast with Adam curry and John C. Dvorak. Jingle 16:00 No agenda. Boost boost boost to get boosted boost. Steve Webb 16:06 New episodes come out on no agenda every Thursday and Sunday. It's a great listen, I highly recommend it if you haven't yet heard it. So here's James's email. I don't know a lot, but I do know about cruising. I've probably been on 20 of them so far. Wow. That's a lot of cruises, James. He said, I have Alaska booked, leaving in about two weeks. Good for you. I think you're gonna love it. and he said southern Caribbean for spring break is in the planning stages. Well, now James, you're just bragging. He continues. One thing I learned after watching so many people stressing so many times is to fly to port a day early to have its South Beach because I just liked South Beach so much. Well, James, you know, that's really what we had planned. If it had not been for the connection problems. We would have gotten into Vancouver early enough for a nice evening meal the day before, and a leisurely time to explore the city before boarding the ship in the afternoon. But there is an old Jewish proverb if you heard it, it says a man makes his plans and God laughs. James says this way any flight problems can be figured out without losing the cruise. James that is good advice. and Leanne and I are so thankful that our travel agent gave us that suggestion. Okay, now you ready? Here's the part I wish I had known before we packed James says, I also make sure to have one change of clothes in my backpack. Should my luggage get lost? Believe me, James, this is a lesson we learned the hard way. James says so far. We have never had any issues like this, but we were prepared and praise the Lord for that shapes. He says this will be my first and probably only trip up north. Again referring to Alaska. He said I mean I live in the rocky mountains of Colorado so other than the ice and sky. I suspect it will look familiar. As James I've been to the Rockies several times in Alaska is similar but it is so much bigger in me I say it is grander as well. I was a professional ski patrolman at Mammoth Mountain here in California. It's a 10,052 foot peak. and this was when I was a much younger man. and on my 60th birthday, I nearly made it to the top of Mount Whitney, which is at 14,505 feet, the highest peak in the continental United States. and by the way, I am working on my fitness level right now so that I can try it again before my 70th birthday next year. Will I make it? I'm hoping so I'm going to be working on it. Well, Mount McKinley or Denali, as its official name is now and of course that's in Alaska is twice as high as mammoth at 20,308 feet. So I think you'll be impressed by the size of things in Alaska. Being a mountain man yourself. I'm sure you'll appreciate Alaska, if I'm not mistaken. Anyway, James continues he says glad you were successful in your journey. I would have liked to to do the train thing too. But I'll have a party of eight with me on this one, which includes two little ones, so nothing like that in the cards this time. Yeah, James, that's understandable. We did the train and it was a fun ride. But with little kids, it would be a little bit more difficult in James's Oh, and get that passport. You never know if you might have to get out of the country on short notice. Yes, James. We have them now for sure. Since we landed in Vancouver, they were definitely needed. and I'm glad we have them. and we even got the TSA PreCheck so we can avoid some of the TSA security screening hassles at the airport. So anyway, James, thank you so much for the email. I sure wish we had thought to pack some of the essentials like a change of clothes in our carry ons. All right now so here are some of the highlights from the trip. First, we really did like the cruise portions of the trip. Of course this was our first cruise like I've said before, so we don't have anything to Compare it to but Princess cruise lines really treated us very well. We booked all of our off ship excursions except for one months ago through Princess so they knew what our plans were for every port. and so the night before an excursion, they brought our excursion tickets to our state room along with instructions on where we needed to be and what time we needed to be there. That was nice. and whenever land transportation was needed to get somewhere, they provided that as well. and another great convenience was something called a medallion that each Princess passenger wears when on board the ship. The medallion is linked to an app on your phone. and wherever you are on the ship. If you want to order food or beverage, you do that on the app, and then they'll bring it to you wherever you are, they know because you have the medallion, where you're at. and also if you get lost, the app will tell you how to get where you're going. It's a big ship was something like 17 decks and many restaurants and theaters and such. and sometimes it can be confusing to navigate all around that, especially in the beginning, you know, the beginning of the cruise. So the app and Medallion is is helpful. The staff are well trained and very courteous. So that's a plus two and the food was overall I'd say pretty good. Definitely not the best food I've ever had. But it was good. Everybody always talks about the fact that you can eat 24 hours a day on a cruise. and that's true. But now that I'm really trying to eat only certain foods and to avoid ingredients that are harmful like seed oils and such. I'm far less of a foodie than I used to be. I mean, I love food, but I very much limit what I allow myself to consume. As a matter of fact, I only gained two pounds while we were gone. I'm pretty proud of myself. So enough of the ship. Our first stop was in Ketchikan where we had a sort of heavy drizzle most of the day and that was okay because we were prepared for it. We learned that we needed to expect rain. So we came dressed for it. We had all the layers, we had the windbreakers and you know, hat and stuff like that. So that was great. and we were told by the good folks who were our zipline guides that the rain makes the zip lines faster. Yes, both Leanna and I went ziplining it was the first time and it was real kick. I would definitely do that again. and we did not mind the rain at all. As a matter of fact, we really hardly even thought about it. We were having so much fun. Also while we were in Ketchikan, we had breakfast in a little place where the locals go, we asked around as we're walking in town, Hey, where's the good place to have breakfast, and we were pointed to this nice little restaurant that it was obvious it was a locals hangout. It was good to get off the ship and experience a real genuine place. and then we also had lunch after the ziplining at a popular locals place that tourists also seem to like as well. There was a saloon back in the Gold Rush days and I had a very tasty Alaskan halibut. and Leanne is not such a seafood fan. So she had her burger. Back on the ship that evening. On the way to Juneau. We saw some dolphins from our balcony. and that was a thrill. They were swimming and jumping just yards away. and I got some video footage of him so that was fun. and then the next day in Juneau, we took a river rafting excursion in the Mendenhall river which is fed by the Mendenhall Glacier, which was an awesome site. and the trip down river was fun with a few light rapids along the way. We were never in fear of our life. But we had a few bumps and thrills and we got splashed and it was fun. They put us in rubber overalls and boots to keep us somewhat dry. and our guide was a fun young guy with lots of humor and information to share. That evening back on board, we had some formal photos taken and they made even this old man look pretty good. and Leanne was of course beautiful. and by the way, I'm going to be sharing some pictures of some of the things that I'm talking about on the show notes page for today's show, which will be at Lifespringmedia.com slash s 13 e 315. If you're interested in looking at him, they probably won't be up until later in the day, by the way because this episode is going to be very late getting posted. I'm sitting here recording and it's 10 minutes after midnight. Just taking a little side trip here. We have a lot of catching up to do for our business. and today was a really good day in business. We didn't get home till late so I didn't get sat down to to write up you know this, this recap for you and so it's late so it is what it is but tomorrow sometime I will put the photos up on the website. Anyway, the next day after we had the Mendenhall River Excursion we were in Skagway and this is where I fulfilled one of my lifelong desires. I have loved fishing since I was a little boy. My dad took me fishing for the first time when I was about five at a lake I don't remember where it was or anything but I do remember that I had some sort of a you know kids fishing rod and reel some mine a hook a bobber or worm. Simple little setup, but I think I probably caught a little four or five inch trout. and then when I was 10, my grandpa took me deep sea fishing here in Southern California when I was that I say when I was 10 years old. I think I did anyway, when I was 10 years old, in case I didn't say 10 years old. 10 years old. I came home with a 34 inch Barracuda man, that was fun than I was at that point really hooked on fishing. and then when I lived in Mammoth, when I was a ski patrolman, in the summers, I would go fishing because there are some great fishing up there. and it's the town is called Mammoth Lakes for a reason. and there's a lot of Sierra rivers and streams that feed into the lakes and it's a beautiful place to fish. and I had a freezer full of trout that I had caught with various baits and lures with a trusty fishing rod that I inherited from my other grandpa. There was really nothing special about that fishing rod. It was an inexpensive rod, I'm sure when he bought it because he didn't have a lot of money, but it was his it was my grandpa's, so I love that thing, even to this day. I've got better rods now, but none that I love as much as that one. But until this Alaska vacation, I had never been fly fishing. I've always been fascinated by the beauty of fly fishing, the rhythm of progressively casting the fly further and further out until you hit just the right spot in the river. That's always had an appeal to me. So months ago, we found a fly fishing guides outfit in Skagway and we booked a half day trip with him just about a half hour drive from Skagway. Our guide was a young guy about 23 or 24 years old and he was a very nice kid, a good teacher, he was patient. and within a half an hour or so both Leanne and I were casting that line out like we knew what we were doing. They gave us waiters with neoprene liners to keep us both warm and dry. The water being fed by a glacier was about 38 degrees. and of course they gave us the fly fishing equipment to us and he told us where to cast the line for the best chance at landing one of the hundreds of salmon that were swimming upstream to spawn. and this is the season for great salmon fishing. So he showed us where to throw that fly. and after not too long of a time we both had several bites. and by the way, I should say that I was so proud of Leanne for even trying this because she really doesn't do this kind of stuff. But she really enjoyed this. But after a while I got a strong bite and that fish was a fighter. The guide coached me on when to let him run and when to reel a man and I fought him for probably, I don't know 234 minutes I really kind of lost track because I was having so much fun with him and he finally got away which was disappointing but my oh my was it a fun fight. and then Leann got a good bite. But that fish also freed himself. Then I got another one. and I think I held my composure a little bit better in after another good fight. We got him into the nets. When I say we the the guide and I we took some pictures and we didn't measure before we released him. But from the pictures I have, I would say that he was about as long as my arm and that was such a thrill. This is something I will do again. Well, after fishing we had lunch at a place that specializes in crab legs, which I love right there in Skagway and I had a very overpriced order of King Crab legs. and what they brought out was a plate of one crab leg that was I don't know, 18 inches long or so. So it was big. and it was very tasty. But I'm so embarrassed to tell you that price stupid expensive, but you only live once right? Okay, I'll tell you that crab lake was some clarified butter, a couple of sections of a lemon and some greens. I can't tell you. All right, I will $95 Crazy, right? I'll eat crab again. Like I said I love crab but certainly I will not pay that much again. Oh and Leon had a burger. Don't ask it didn't cost as much as my crab but it too was overpriced. I kind of think they saw us coming. The next day or next stop was I think it was the next day. The next stop was Glacier Bay. That was some stupendous scenery. The ship sailed pretty deep into the bay and we were able to see many different glaciers with some small icebergs floating by that had carved off of those glaciers. We didn't see any big chunks fall off, but we did see a small one and I tell you it was really, really beautiful. and then from there the next day we sailed to college fjord and we saw some more glaciers and more icebergs and again, stunningly beautiful. The next stop was where we got off the ship, Whittier, Alaska, which is about 60 miles south of Anchorage. We took a train from Whittier to the little town of Keep now which was the model for the fictional town of Sicily, Alaska, you know, the TV show Northern Exposure. Anyway, at the end of its main street, which you walk down, I mean, it's not very long, maybe a quarter mile. At the end of that street, we got our first glimpse of Denali or Mount McKinley, just a glimpse because it was mostly obscured by clouds. But we did see it, and it dwarfs the surrounding peaks. It is just so massive. and then from there, we wrote a bus to a very nice resort called the Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge, which is where we spent the night. Yes, it is owned by the princess cruise line, which was fine with us because again, the transportation was provided by Princess as were our meals. Of course, we paid for them in advance when we bought the package. But having everything planned for and provided when and where it was needed, allowed us to relax more, so that was fine. The grounds there were very nice with hiking trails in a very nice restaurant that had a great view of Mount McKinley, or it would have been a great view. If the clouds weren't there, we found out that only about 30% of Alaska's visitors ever get a really good look at the mountain so the fact that we even got a glimpse is still pretty special in my way of looking at it, so that's good. The next day we took a very long bus ride about five hours to the Denali Princess lodge also nice, but just a tad rustic. and from there, we took about a three hour bus ride. I think it was into the Denali National Park and this might have been the next day the days are kind of getting fuzzy on me. We saw some very beautiful scenery in Denali National Park plus we finally saw a caribou and a little later a moose with her baby. So that was really fun. I forgot to say by the way that we saw several bald eagles on the trip to at different places. and I'm a bird guy I love bird watching in spotting new species to put on my life list. So seeing these guys was really a thrill and we saw a bunch of them. Well the next day was another bus ride this one to Fairbanks where we took a riverboat cruise. Yeah, a river boat with a paddle wheel and the whole nine yards. This was run by I think the third or fourth generation of the family that started these riverboat rides back in 1950. There in Fairbanks and the cruise is three hours long. The narrator was entertaining and informative and along the way we stopped at an example of what a village of the early inhabitants of the area looked like. It's called Cheyna Indian village and native Alaskan guides took us around their Athabaskan village and Athabaskan is the name of the people who lived there back in the day. and anyway, they showed us how they lived back hundreds of years ago. It was really a rich experience. It was beautiful. and then about three hours after the riverboat cruise, we had to make our way provided by Princess of course to the Fairbanks airport where we began our journey home. We didn't have the travails of our flight to Alaska. But it was still a very long ordeal given that we had, I think, an 11 hour layover in Seattle. We were exhausted when we got home. But we were very, very happy. I think one of the things we learned on this trip was this, whenever possible, get a nonstop flight, it cost more, but I believe it's worth it. These these long days of flying and just they're just exhausting. But here's an even better thing that we learned. Making memories with the one you love is priceless. We'll be making payments on this vacation for a very long time. But we have a lifetime of memories that will treasure forever. God has blessed us with a very special and strong marriage. and we thank him every day for that truly we do. I'm not exaggerating, every day we thank him. We've had trials, of course, but he's used them to create a bond that just can't be broken. and it was a bonus to have this very, very special time together in a very special plays.
